OK, I had great plans for this mini-retirement--including reading a lot of highbrow academic topics, cleaning my house, and reviving a commitment to creative self-expression--but I must confess I have instead been doing the following:
- Sleeping
- "Air shopping" for luxury items online, but not actually buying anything
- Indeed cleaning the house, but not making as much progress as hoped
- Watching extremely silly shows on Bravo, including Project Runway, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta
I am only moderately horrified by this stock-taking because I appreciate the value of aimless, nonproductive moodling in restoring the spirit.
Fortunately his week I will be compelled to be a bit more serious tbecause I am going to a hospitalist conference to learn more about the work I do, and because I will be staying with my mother who doesn't watch alternate reality TV. Pity, really, because Tim Gunn would get a kick out of my mother.

Air shopping? What sort of luxury items? Sounds fun...

Everyone needs a little break. I am glad I am not the only one.
Just remember the new study that concludes computer works prevents brain freeze.
Thanks
